Carpal Tunnel Surgery – Central Florida

Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Brian Jurbala

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a disorder involving compression of the median nerve, which runs through the wrist into a tunnel surrounded by bones and ligaments. Most commonly seen in women over the age of thirty, carpal tunnel syndrome is typically caused by inflammation or swelling of the tendon. Depending on the severity of the problem, the doctor may recommend a number of treatment solutions including anti-inflammatory medicines or night splints. Carpal tunnel surgery has been recommended for our Central Florida patients who suffer from more severe cases.

Since the median nerve is responsible for sensation to a large portion of the palm and fingers as well as motor control in the palm and thumb, the consequences of carpal tunnel syndrome can be significant.
